About

A fully qualified psychotherapist, Mary trained with the Irish College for Personal and Professional Development in Athlone for four years and graduated with a BA in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. (First Class Honours). She worked for many years in an Addiction Unit within the Mental Health Services as part of the multidisciplinary team and witnessed first-hand how an individual can recover from addiction by taking that first step. Whilst Mary does not specialise in addiction, her experiences in the Unit prompted her later foray into studying counselling and psychotherapy and awakened an interest in the human psyche.

Mary works with clients from eighteen years old upwards. She is a member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy and adheres strictly to its code of ethics.

My approach is person-centred and integrative, embracing body, mind and spirit. I believe that sharing in a safe space is an excellent way to get relief from life’s difficulties. I draw from several theories of practice tailoring the therapy to suit each individual client. I can support you to develop coping skills and provide both short term therapy (6 weeks) and long term therapy if that is what you require.   At the core of them all is the therapeutic relationship of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.

The holistic approach encompasses the whole person embracing their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. I believe that we are all on a journey with our own unique story and there will be times in our lives when we need to reach out for a ‘helping hand’.
